Melissa Crystal O'Neil (born July 12, 1988[1]) is a Canadian actor and singer. O'Neil was the first Canadian woman to take home Canadian Idol's third season, which aired in 2005. O'Neil is primarily known as an actress for her performances in the series Syfy as Two or Rebeccaas Two / Rebecca / Portia Lin, and on ABC as Officer Lucy Chen in the ABC procedural drama The Rookie. She was voted among the bottom three and two contestants were eliminated. After being shocked, judges advised viewers to vote Melissa O'Neil, who was clearly the most active contestant. From then on, O'Neil never fell back in the bottom three, despite her consistently high-rated performances, with judge Zack Werner declaring that she was "a threat to win the entire competition". The 7th of September, 2005, O'Neil was able to make it into the final two contestants of the competition, alongside Goudie. Following some more impressive performances the judge Werner famously declared that the headlines of the next day's newspaper would read "The King [Kalan Porter] is dead Long live the Queen." In the grand final results presentation on September 14 in 2005, O'Neil defeated Goudie to be crowned the third Canadian Idol, as well as being the first female winner, and (at 17) the youngest contestant in the show's history.
